Metadata is text and graphics stored within the music file. It includes things like song title, artist name, album, and album art. For MP3s, the part where metadata is stored is called the ID3 tag. Having this data allows you to sort, browse, and search your music collections in many ways. But, it needs to be accurate and it needs to be consistent.
Using the popular CD ripping programs to convert your CDs, can result in metadata that is inaccurate and inconsistent because these programs obtain their data from different sources. You can spend more time “fixing” the files than it takes to actually rip a CD.
DataFix™ is a unique process that inspects and fixes metadata automatically, as the CD is being converted.
• It “grooms” your files, making sure the ID3 tags and file structure will be consistent.
• It checks to make sure no errors were made during the encoding process, such as
unplayable tracks.
• It associates cover art with most CDs, so that you can view it using software such as
iTunes.
